Who this route is for

This route is for practitioners who meet Level 7 eligibility and can evidence training and practice across the diploma requirements. Approval is never guaranteed.

CPD-trained practitioners

You hold CPD or equivalent certification in dermal fillers, anti-wrinkle injections, and skin boosters (at least two years since certification) and treat clients regularly in clinic with matching insurance cover.

Practitioners progressing to VTCT

You hold suitable prior qualifications and want a regulated VTCT award without repeating formative training you can evidence.

Clinic owners and lead therapists

You need a formal VTCT outcome for insurance, progression or team standards and can supply structured treatment records.

Experienced practitioners new to VTCT

You have strong practical experience but have not yet completed this specific regulated qualification.

Minimum eligibility criteria

You should meet all of the criteria below before submitting your RPL eligibility request. Admissions may request further information during review.

  • 30 dermal filler treatments completed within the previous two years
  • 30 anti-wrinkle treatments completed within the previous two years
  • 15 skin booster treatments completed within the previous two years
  • CPD or equivalent unregulated certification in dermal fillers, anti-wrinkle injections, and skin boosters: Relevant CPD or equivalent unregulated certification dated at least two years ago (or held continuously for at least two years, as confirmed by admissions)
  • Current insurance documentation for the treatments you perform, covering at least the period you have held the relevant CPD or equivalent unregulated certification (minimum two years where applicable)
  • Level 7 eligibility criteria including prior regulated training, prescribing status where required, and substantial injectables experience (confirmed by admissions)
  • Ability to supply consultation records, consent forms and before/after photographs for reviewed cases
  • Willingness to complete any remaining theory, assessment or practical requirements identified after evidence review

Portfolio review

Evidence checklist

Prepare the documents below for portfolio review. Minimum treatment volumes, CPD tenure, insurance cover and entry requirements are set out in the minimum eligibility criteria above.

Alternative evidence

If you are unable to provide the required number of case studies, alternative evidence may be considered. This may include:

  • A signed reference from your employer, clinic owner, manager or senior practitioner confirming competency and experience
  • Evidence of employment within the relevant treatment area
  • Professional portfolio evidence demonstrating regular practice

All alternative evidence is reviewed on a case-by-case basis and acceptance is at the discretion of the assessor and awarding organisation.

  • Client case studies and treatment records

Structured case studies or treatment logs for the minimum volumes listed in the eligibility criteria above, with consultation notes, consent and treatment records.

  • Professional treatment photographs

Before and after images where applicable, with appropriate client consent linked to each case.

  • Current insurance documentation

Insurance schedule or certificate matching the cover period described in the eligibility criteria above.

  • Relevant qualifications and certificates

Regulated awards and certificates supporting your entry requirement, where applicable.

  • CPD or equivalent certification

Certificates for the CPD subjects required on this route, as described in the eligibility criteria above.

  • Employment records

Evidence of employment or self-employment in the relevant treatment area, where this supports your portfolio.

What training may be reduced

Where your evidence maps to VTCT learning outcomes, RPL may reduce repeat formative training.

  • Repeat formative practical sessions where your evidence already meets the learning outcomes
  • Introductory theory delivery where prior regulated or CPD learning is accepted through review
  • Modules you can demonstrate through certificates, case studies and treatment records

What still needs to be completed

RPL does not remove the qualification. You complete whatever remains after evidence review.

  • Any VTCT learning outcomes not covered by your submitted evidence
  • Remaining theory modules or assignments required for the qualification
  • Practical assessment and portfolio work mandated for certification
  • Additional case studies or standards of evidence requested after initial review
  • Any gap training identified before final approval is confirmed

Assessment requirements

Recognition of Prior Learning affects training delivery where evidence is accepted. It does not replace the assessments required for VTCT certification.

  • RPL does not remove the need to meet VTCT assessment requirements for the qualification
  • You may still need to complete theory assessments, assignments or exams linked to the award
  • Practical assessment and observation may still be required where evidence does not fully map to criteria
  • Final certification is only awarded when all required assessments are completed to the required standard

Application process

Follow these steps to start your Level 7 Diploma in Non-surgical Aesthetic Injectable Procedures RPL review. Evidence review is provided at no charge. Final approval depends on the outcome of that review.

For this Level 7 Diploma in Non-surgical Aesthetic Injectable Procedures RPL route, your CPD or equivalent unregulated certification in dermal fillers, anti-wrinkle injections, and skin boosters should be dated at least two years ago, or show at least two years of continuous practice since certification, unless admissions advises otherwise during review.
